My award-winning book on the 1864 Camden Habour expedition, There Were Three Ships – published in 1990 –  remains the fullest account of an exploration doomed to end in tragedy. It won the Fellowship of Australian Writers local history award.

Since 1990, Camden Harbour and Brecknock Harbour have become ever-more popular stops for adventurous travellers taking advantage of the cruises – in craft large and small – between Broome and Darwin. It is a perfect crocodile habitat, and only the foolhardy take a swim.
